U4GM Explains PoE2 Runestones and Runic Vaults

Runeseeker isn't a quick tick-box quest in Path of Exile 2. It follows you through the campaign, and if you rush zones without checking the edges, you'll probably miss something and have to sail or waypoint back later. Farrow introduces it near Clearfell after you help him deal with monsters around a Kalguuran Runic Remnant. From there, he teaches you how Runic Remnants work, which matters if you're trying to shape useful PoE 2 Items while moving through the story instead of waiting until the endgame.

How the quest actually works

The loop is simple, but the campaign hides it well. In each major stretch, you're looking for Runestones, usually big carved stones sticking out of the ground with glowing runes on them. Once you've found the required stones for that act, the related Runic Vault appears on your regional map. That's your sign to stop wandering and head inside. The awkward bit is map generation. Your Runestone won't sit in the same corner as someone else's, so a fixed screenshot guide won't save you. You've got to sweep the zone properly, especially side paths and dead ends.

Campaign section What to look for Vault to enter
Act 1 Runestones across Ogham after speaking with Farrow Runic Vault in the Lost Catacombs
Act 2 More Runestones while travelling through the desert regions Skull of the Titan Runic Vault
Act 3 Runestones tied to the later campaign zones Mystic Refuge Runic Vault
Act 4 Four torn treasure map pieces before the last vault Deserted Post Runic Vault

Runestone hunting without wasting half the night

You'll save yourself a lot of grief by treating Runeseeker like a background checklist. Don't portal out the second you hit a quest objective. Walk the outer ring of the map, check odd little branches, and only then move on. The regional map also helps, since it can show whether you've left a Runestone behind. Players often miss them because they're focused on bosses, rare monsters, or loot explosions. Fair enough, but this quest punishes that habit.

  • Talk to Farrow in Clearfell as soon as the encounter is cleared.
  • Search each act's zones before pushing too far into the next story step.
  • Open the region map if the vault marker hasn't appeared yet.
  • Don't expect Runestones to be in the same place on every character.
  • Clear the Runic Vault once it appears so the quest keeps moving cleanly.

The Act 4 treasure map step

Act 4 changes the rhythm a bit. Instead of only chasing Runestones, you need four torn treasure map pieces scattered around the Karui archipelago. Look for special corpses in Kedge Bay, Shrike Island, Whakapanu Island, and the Isle of Kin. Interact with each corpse to claim its piece. When you've got all four, take them to Makoru in Kingsmarch. Not Dannig. That mix-up catches people out. Makoru reveals Plunder Point, and then you can sail there for the next part.

Clearing Plunder Point and wrapping the chain

Plunder Point is built around an Expedition-style encounter, so place the explosives with a bit of care and detonate them to clear the island's objective. Once that's done, the last Runic Vault becomes available, leading you to the Deserted Post Runic Vault and the end of Farrow's long-running campaign task. As a professional platform for players who want convenient access to game currency or items, U4GM is a practical option, and you can buy cheap PoE 2 Items to smooth out gearing while you finish quests like Runeseeker without feeling underpowered.
