U4GM Compares MLB The Show 26 Boss Choices

In MLB The Show 26, The quickest way into the 9th Inning XP Path is to build your lineup around its launch missions. They offer 24,500 XP altogether, and you can earn regular gameplay XP while working through them. The path also pays out MLB 26 stubs as you progress. Before you start, check the live program: more missions were scheduled for October 30, and a separate ranked runs objective is also listed.

Which Boss Fits Your Team

At 275,000 XP, you get a Boss Choice Pack with one decision to make: Milestone Ted Williams or Signature Chipper Jones. You don't get both from the pack. Williams plays left field and brings 125 Contact against pitchers on either side, plus 125 Power against righties and 103 against lefties. His Vision and Clutch are both 125, while his Fielding is 82 and Speed is 67. Jones plays third base, so he might fill a more pressing gap in your lineup. Take a look at his in-game attributes before making your pick.

Rewards Along the Way

You won't have to wait until 275,000 XP to add a 99 OVR player. Starting pitcher Smokey Joe Williams arrives at 47,500 XP, followed by shortstop Willie Wells at 160,000 XP. Neither card affects your boss selection. There are packs and currency between those milestones, too. Early stops include a Show Pack at 3,000 XP and a Ballin' is a Habit Pack at 7,500 XP. Later, you'll find Headliners packs at 107,500, 130,000 and 200,000 XP, plus a Live Series 88+ Pack at 230,000 XP. Across the full path, the listed currency rewards add up to 8,750 Stubs.

Make Your Games Count

The first mission asks for 15 hits on any difficulty and pays 4,000 XP. Your lineup doesn't matter for that one. The other three need specific series: earn 500 Parallel XP with Cornerstone players for 5,500 XP, record 20 extra-base hits with 2026 Postseason players for 7,500 XP, and get 25 strikeouts with The Show Classics pitchers for another 7,500 XP. Check each card's series label before you play. Appearing in the same program doesn't make an Awards or Retro Finest card a Classics card. Conquest and Mini Seasons are among the eligible offline options, alongside Play vs CPU and Diamond Quest.

Don't Miss the Vouchers

If you already have both 8th Inning bosses, Ken Griffey Jr. and Roy Campanella, their collection gives you a 30,000 XP voucher for the 9th Inning path. It's optional, but it helps. Collecting both 9th Inning bosses also awards 1,000 XP and a 30,000 XP voucher for the next inning, not this one. Whether you earn currency through the path or choose to buy MLB 26 stubs, keep an eye on your roster needs before committing to a player.
